Who is a fan of James P. Sullivan (Sully) and Mike Wazowski? The hilarious monsters of the original Disney Pixar’s Monster’s Inc. are back, but with a twist! Instead of taking a trip forward in time, the monsters take us back in time to the days of their youth. You get to see a glimpse of one little monster guy in particular who battles through being different to achieve his dream of becoming “Scary.”
In no time at all, our favorite little green-eyed monster pal, “Mike” takes his exciting march through the big University gate. Monster’s University that is. He signs on to be a part of the “Scare Program.” You will be taken on quite a ride throughout the University adventures with new monster characters and original scary faces we have grown to love in the first movie.
My daughter Kelly and I got to view Monster’s University in 3D at Emagine Theatre in Novi. It was beyond hilarious and exceeded my expectations. I personally think it was better than the first one, but since it’s suppose to take place prior, it makes sense as the younger years are always more exciting! Here is what my 10 year old daughter Kelly has to say about it:
“Monster’s University is really awesome! It’s perfect for grown ups and even little kids. My favorite monsters are Art and Squishy Squibbles, just wait and see.” ~Kelly (10)
Because it was in 3D, it made the monster movie magic even more exciting! I think parents and children alike will all be more than thrilled at Monster’s University. There are some pretty hilarious moments that I am dying to share, but I don’t want to ruin the fun completely for you. Let’s just say it’s worth a fun family movie night! Monster’s University has something for everyone. It’s all we talked about when leaving the show. We laughed and giggled all the way home. Kelly was excited to keep her 3D glasses. She also received a fun poster of all the Monster’s gang as well as fun sticker from Radio Disney who was present to kick off the fun event!
I am so excited about this movie that I am willing to go see it again, but with my whole family this time. For kids 4 and under you may want to be cautious as there are very loud noises and sounds that may startle them. You of course know your child and what they are capable of, but as a mom, I thought I would throw that out there.
The music in Monster’s University was a lot of fun too. I am going to be picking up the movie soundtrack in the days ahead. I will also be purchasing the DVD when it comes out of the theaters as well. Can’t wait!
Disney Pixar’s Monster’s University opens in theatres on Friday, June 21st. View Monster’s University Trailer here.
Who is your favorite monster? Get ready to add more characters to your list! This gang is hilarious and scary………Hehe!
